If you’re looking for pristine white sands, crystal-clear waters, and some of the best snorkeling in Australia, Exmouth is the place to be. It’s not just about swimming with the Whale Sharks!
Situated on the Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Area, you have the option of staying close to the town or adventuring around to Cape Range National Park.
After spending three weeks in this amazing area, we found so many hidden gems, as well as exploring the most popular spots.


Top Exmouth Beaches to Visit
I’ve broken this list down into two sections – the first section are beaches close to town. These are perfect for a quick splash if you don’t feel like driving.
The second section are beaches in Cape Range National Park, which are idlyic for different reasons. I’ll then let you know where the best places to stay are, based on your beach choice.
But if you’re wondering, I’d suggest a few days at least, then a few days in Cape Range National Park.
Beaches closest to Exmouth
1. Town Beach Exmouth – Easy Access and Calm Waters
For those looking to stay close to town, or have a rest day, Town Beach is a fantastic option. This easily accessible beach is ideal for morning walks, paddleboarding, and swimming at high tide. It’s also a great spot for fishing.
This is a drive on beach with hard-packed sand (usually!) we took our 4WD onto this beach but also saw some standard 2WD cars drive comfortably.

2. Bundegi Beach – A Local Favorite
Bundegi Beach is one of the closest beaches to town and a great spot for those looking for a mix of relaxation and adventure. It’s a popular launching point for boats and is fantastic for paddleboarding and fishing.

3. Mauritius Beach – Embrace Nature Naturally 🤔
For those seeking a more liberating beach experience, Mauritius Beach is Exmouth’s designated clothing-optional beach. Its pristine sands and clear waters provide a peaceful setting for sunbathing and swimming.

4. Mildura Wreck Beach – Dive into History
Located near the tip of North West Cape, Mildura Wreck Beach is home to the historic SS Mildura shipwreck, visible from the shore at low tide. The site offers a unique blend of history and natural beauty, different from other beaches you’ll find on the Ningaloo coastline.
It is possible to snorkel to the wreck, but be aware of strong tides. We elected to view from the shore, and we were rewarded by watching turtles play in the waves.

While many travellers love the town of Exmouth, let’s be real… It’s the exciting adventures the Ningaloo Reef has to offer. Whale Shark Swims, the pristine coral, Cape Range National Park is where you need to go!

Turquoise Bay is often ranked among the best Exmouth beaches—and for good reason. This breathtaking spot boasts powdery white sand, unbelievably blue waters, and world-class drift snorkeling.
